Yes, completely and totally free. Also please note we are not going to magically change our fees half way through or start charging you unexpected fees. We basically want to have the biggest and the best inventory of vinyl records on the web (and heck free is the way to go)!
GTV (although privately owned and run) is looking to receive its revenue from various companies for the opportunity to showcase their company and hopefully find out more of what you (their customers) like through surveys. We do however respect your decision should you not want to take a survey and offer a 15% commission fee as an alternative payment. We are however hoping to get paid by the merchant '“ this way, we can keep our Sellers prices low and keeping their costs down!
GTV doesn't handle disputes (please read our Terms and Services). All disputes are handled between the buyer, the seller and PayPal. GTV is held to the same standards as all marketplaces that use PayPal (in that we do not mediate disputes). We do however monitor transactions and allow the buyer to leave feedback about his experience with the seller.
We give it away. Just kidding! Seriously, we are kidding. We safeguard your information like it was our own mothers'. Your contact information is never sold or rented to third parties. In fact, our merchants never actually see you email address! The only way that our merchants can see your information is for you to give them permission by giving it directly to them. Your information is very important to us. You will NEVER receive an email that you have not consented to receive. We are very serious about this!
No. We hate getting spammed and/or getting tons of those emails from companies that you just sign up for once too. The only emails you will receive from us are when you first sign up (Thanking you for joining) or when you buy or sell an item (giving you a receipt and explaining the next steps of the transaction). Other than that we have newsletters that we will make optional. We also might send an email to a record store to open dialog between us (but if you really don't want us to email you just shoot us a quick note saying you're not interested).
We like other sites use the Goldmine Grading System. There is tons of documentation and videos on the web that can teach you how to grade vinyl records. Some words of advice; it is considered a good idea to grade one grade lower than you actually think the record actually is. You will find more info at: http://vinylville.tripod.com/faq-2.html
No. Sorry we are a vinyl only website and want to keep the site dedicated to selling vinyl records only. Yes we know you can temporarily take a photo of something other than a record and put it up for a short time. We will find the improper content and delete it and potentially delete your account. If the content is offensive in any way you will be liable and could be prosecuted to the fullest. (Please read Terms and Services for more information)
Of course we would love to hear from you and open to your ideas. Please contact info@goingthruvinyl.com we would love to talk.
On the Sign up page in the field called 'Username' we don't allow spaces in the name. For example, if you typed 'BobbyJoe'sMusicShop' you would be OK but 'Bobby Joe's Music Shop' as a username would get an error.
GoingThruVinyl is new to market and trying to build a site that everyone likes. We are honest hardworking people that value your opinion. We would love to hear your suggestions and also hope that you understand that problems do happen from time to time. We would really appreciate your understanding during these times. We also suggest that you read our '˜Privacy Policy' and '˜Terms and Services' before you make a purchase or even sign up for an account. This is good advice for 'life' as well as being true for any site you purchase from. It is better to know what you are agreeing to then to assume and be wrong. You can call or email us should you have any questions at any time.
GoingThruVinyl is coming to market with a totally fresh approach. We are charging the seller nothing; No Fees, No Gimmicks and No limits. We are looking to recoup our costs in advertising from our site and through our cool newsletter. We are also collecting data through surveys (that you do when signing up or when purchasing a record). Currently we are just collecting data for our own use but we are hoping with time that we will be able to sell these surveys services to companies to conduct studies. In addition, we are coming to market with a time saving way to get large amounts of records (with their actual artwork) online quicker than ever before. We have introduced the GTV bulk uploader were we charge 0.40 US currency per record (or 100 albums all typed out for you for $40.00) to have record fields typed out for you. Not a bad deal if we do say so ourselves
It is an amazing system where you can upload thousands of records images all at once into our site to get the record information typed out automatically for you.
We have teamed up with a company that have workers that we pay to type out the record information for you. No, these workers are not tied to a desk or miss treated in any way. They are friendly nice people from around the world (though mostly the United States) that enjoy getting paid to do jobs like type out record information out. The company we use is called Amazon Mechanical Turk and the workers are actually really nice people.
Well, you start off by putting your photos into our site by genre (Step one). You separate where one album begins and ends (step two). Your photos are sent to a team of workers who type out the data for you. We think this is the quickest, easiest way of getting all your items up and on the site for sale. We do suggest that you email us the first time you go to use it so we can make sure everything runs smoothly.
We have really worked hard on perfecting this feature the best we can. It really depends on a ton of factors though. We can say is that we have been able to test the GTV Bulk Uploader with multiple stores all submitting thousands of albums (all at the same time) and got all the of the results back within a couple of days. The outcomes are only guaranteed for three days so we suggest you spend a minute or two to review the results. Our workers are good but they do make mistakes now and again.
Presently we use PayPal only. PayPal does however allow people to pay with credit card and Debit too. We are looking into other possibilities but currently they are the only company that deals globally. You will need to create a PayPal account when you do transactions on the site.
You will get paid instantly through PayPal.
The shipping is determined either by the UPS shipping calculator or between the buyer and seller before the purchase. All shipping is paid by the customer. The customer can use Credit Card, Debit or their PayPal account all through PayPal.
No fees at all EVER; whether in your store or online (doesn't matter). We have a delete button on the records (product) page after you are logged in. We prefer if you mark it as 'sold' though; that way your customers aren't confused if they are going back to look for it. This can be done by clicking on 'Edit' and choosing 'Sold.' It will get deleted automatically in a week so you don't need to go back later. Unlike other online music sites that base their site on who has the record for the cheapest price. We at GoingThruVinyl have taken a different approach by designing the site around helping the record store.
Like most music sites there are no fees to create an account. This is a completely risk free website with no hidden fees or trick charges for listing records.
Once you log into your account if you go to 'Sell Records' at the top of the page you are taken to a page that gives you three options. The first way is if you have your records in a .CSV file in the same format as most of our competitors(please email us at info@goingthruvinyl.co if you have any issues). Just click on the 'Import your Catalog' button and upload the file. The second option is to use our single uploader where you manually upload as may images of the record as you like and fill out as many fields as you choose. The third option is a really unique and time saving option where you upload as many images of the actual record you are selling [not clip art] as you like (one Genre at a time) and let our team of workers type out the data for you. So for only .40 a record (or $40 to do 100 records) you can spend your time doing other things like helping your customers. We think certain record stores will love and thank us for this offer? We will wait and see...
Just email us at info@goingthruvinyl.com and ask us
No, but obviously if you do choose to save money using the GTV Survey method you will need to fill out information.

No it isn't necessary. Taking pictures does however increase the chances of not only selling the record but getting a better price for the record. It gives the buyer more confidence in buying an item when he can actually see what he is buying. It also decreases the chances that the record will be returned to you; saving you for the long term time, headache and money.
We have taken the examples of other online marketplaces and used it for our site. We are hoping to bring customers that are selling on their sites to try on ours. Just sign in and go to Sell records and upload you CSV file where it says 'Import your Catalog!' Easy as pie!
Manage batches is used in conjunction with our bulk uploader. It is a working area that allows user to separate photos and watch their progress. Check out the GTV Uploader for more details.
