Miracle Condition Live in Ann Arbor, Recorded April 27, 2012

This week as a bonus I thought I would post the opening act of the Tortoise show, Miracle Condition live at "the Blind Pig" in Ann Arbor. This Chicago based band was unknown to me when I went to record Tortoise, but when I heard Miracle Condition play, I was really impressed (which doesn't happen often at first listen). Having set up the recorder for Tortoise,  I realize I captured a great band in their early career, and I wanted to share that with the GTV audience. The whole set is provided here, so with Tortoise, you have the whole evening's performance. We have a link to pick up their latest album (on RTI HQ 180 gram Red Vinyl!).

Miracle Condition's bio:

Miracle Condition is a trio featuring U.S. Maple guitarist Mark Shippy and drummer Pat Samson, with Matt Carson on guitar and vocals. The group formed in late 2006 and quickly morphed their more experimental leanings into their own brand of cinematic, illustrative spacegaze. Where U.S. Maple was known for deconstructing rock music, Miracle Condition traffics those images seen in the moments between sleeping and waking, pushing the sonic envelope into the dream world. Layers of guitar, sheets of percussion and fragile, glasslike voices from Shippy and Carson hint at elements of the psychedelic and shoegaze genres. In the live setting Miracle Condition is shatteringly loud - the droning interrupted by Samson's uniquely expressive drum patterns. With their forthcoming release on the Tizona label, Miracle Condition will undoubtedly command attention from anyone within earshot.

I highly recommend this band and their album; I think they could be the next big thing. Check them out: http://www.miraclecondition.com/
